Tai Chi Movements for Wellbeing

For almost 10 years Tai Chi Movements for Wellbing has been my (almost) daily practice. I love this unique approach to gentle health promoting exercise. As I continue to explore the practice it becomes very clear to me that TMW is embodied mindfulness.

Tai Chi Movements for Wellbeing (TMW) is a specially developed simple range of moves which promotes physical and emotional health and wellbeing. It combines the essential elements of Tai Chi and Chi Kung to allow you to feel the benefits of these wonderful arts easily, giving you greater confidence, reducing stress and tension, and putting a spring in your step!

The sequence was developed by internationally‐renowned Tai Chi master Richard Farmer and consultant clinical and neuro psychologist Dr David Quinn, and has been taken up by the NHS in Herefordshire and by the National Exercise Referral Scheme in Wales. It’s been shown to help in a whole range of issues, from managing long‐term health conditions, rehabilitation, depression, and the challenges associated with getting older.

TMW keeps your body relaxed, healthy and feeling well because it supports you to move and breathe with awareness, so you tune in to your own unique needs. It allows you to rebalance your mind and body, particularly beneficial if you’ve lost confidence or suffer from stress. It enables you to improve your flexibility and balance, and to increase your core strength.

TMW offers a unique embodied approach to gentle exercise, mental wellbeing and health related goal setting. Its modular style means that it can be adapted to any group or individual programme with a clear and immediate benefit. – Dr. David Quin, BSc MSc ClinPsyD CPsychol AFBPsS
